So, you have a heart for welcoming and connecting new people? And you are willing to help facilitate discussions in a small-group setting? Then we'd love to hear from you! We are actively seeking new leaders for Single, Married, Senior and Cross-Generational Life Groups. Here's what you can expect:
- Many groups meet weekly and some meet twice a month or even less frequently.
- The days, times and locations of meetings can vary. Many groups rotate meeting at different members' homes.
- Groups may meet for the length of a sermon series, for many months or for even longer.
Leader Requirements
It's been said that God does not call the qualified, but that he qualifies the called. Life Groups are critical to the spiritual growth and fellowship of our church. Recognizing this, The Compass Church is dedicated to supporting our Life Groups and equipping our leaders. It is imperative that those leading Life Groups meet the following criteria:
- Follower of Jesus Christ, declaring your devotion to Him.
- Shepherd's heart for others.
- Previous small group participation experience (at least one year).
- Prior leadership experience either from work, home or hobbies.
- Commitment to becoming a member of The Compass Church within the next six months (if not already a member).
Application & Training Process
Our New Leader application and training process includes a few easy steps:
- Step 1: Complete and return a Life Group Leader Application to the office by mail, to lifegroups@thecompass.net or in person.
- Step 2: If you are not already a member of The Compass, fill out a Membership Application and return it to the church office or to lifegroups@thecompass.net.
- Step 3: Meet with Jennifer Sonnenschein | Director of Life Group & Adult Ministry so she can affirm your decision to lead a Life Group.
- Step 4: Attend New Leader Training (typically held one Saturday a month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hobson Campus).
